Snow on the hills.
For the last 2 weeks we have watched the daily TV bulletins outlining the dreadful weather conditions that have been experienced in the north and now we have it too. Only 3 days since I walked these hills in an eeire mist - see below - here we are enveloped in snow just 72 hours later. Heathrow airport is closed with passengers sleeping on the floors at the Terminal buildings - the railways are virtually at a standstill - and driving is a game of Russian Roulette. Personally we have experienced frozen water pipes and today it took us over 3 hours to cover 16 miles in our four wheel drive. We are just a few days from the shortest day of the year and Spring has never seemed further away.
