Education 2.
The incredibly talented and equally witty playwright Oscar Wilde once wrote - Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing worth knowing can be taught. Given that our Oscar was a highly educated man it was easy for him to say this. Indeed most of the funniest quotes relating to the process of learning and school were penned by those fortunate to enjoy a first rate education. Here are a few more shots, this time from Orissa, Vietnam, China and Sikkim that shows how much those less fortunate value learning. Maybe amongst them is a future playwright, lets hope so.
Education costs money, but then so does ignorance - Sir Claus Moser.
They say that we are better educated than our parents' generation. What they mean is that we go to school longer. It is not the same thing - Richard Yates.
You send your child to the schoolmaster, but 'tis the schoolboys who educate him - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
The one real object of education is to have a man in the condition of continually asking questions - Bishop Mandell Creighton
I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn't learn something from him - Galileo.
One's work may be finished some day, but one's education never - Alexander Dumas.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world - Nelson Mandela.
Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school - Albert Einstein.
